Our team was approached by Iolani's Biology and Oceanography teacher, Dr.Chan, to create a hand held system that can be distributed to other schools that are along the Ala Wai canal. This system will collect and log temperature, salinity, and grab the current location of where the data was collected along the canal. This information is to help scientists like Dr.Chan understand how to revive the Ala Wai canal back to its original form.
At the moment our team is still in the planning phases of the project. After being held back due to a complication with the environmental monitoring project, the team looks forward to finishing and delivering a product that can help students and teachers learn more about the canal.
